4-Hour Session Windows

ISMS Copilot resets your usage limits automatically every 4 hours from when you start using the platform. This rolling window ensures you get regular fresh allocations throughout the day.

How the Session Window Works

Your session window starts the moment you send your first message after a reset. From that point, you have 4 hours before your next automatic reset.

Example: If you start a session at 10:00 AM, your usage limit resets at 2:00 PM. If you then send a message at 2:15 PM, your next reset will be at 6:15 PM.

The reset time is specific to when you started your session, not a fixed daily time. Every user has their own rolling 4-hour window.

What Happens at Reset

When your 4-hour window expires, your credit allocation refreshes automatically. You don't need to log out, refresh the page, or take any action—just continue working and you'll have a fresh allocation.

The amount of credits you receive depends on your plan:

  • Free Plan: Limited credits per window for exploring and light usage

  • Plus Plan: Higher allocation for daily compliance work

  • Pro Plan: Extended allocation for heavy workloads

  • Business Plan: Maximum allocation for enterprise teams

When You Hit Your Limit

If you reach your usage limit before the 4-hour window ends, you'll see a message showing when your next reset occurs:

"You've reached your usage limit for this session. Your limit will reset at 2:30 PM, or upgrade for higher limits."

You can either wait for the automatic reset or upgrade your plan for immediate access with higher limits.

If you consistently hit your limit before the 4-hour window ends, upgrading to Plus typically solves the issue. The increased allocation supports dozens of messages per session.

Why 4 Hours?

The 4-hour window balances accessibility and fair usage. It's long enough for focused work sessions but resets frequently enough that you're not locked out for an entire day if you hit your limit.

Unlike daily limits that reset at midnight, the rolling 4-hour window means you can use the platform at any time—morning, afternoon, evening—and always have predictable reset intervals.

Tracking Your Session

ISMS Copilot notifies you as you approach your limit, showing when your next reset occurs. There's no real-time usage dashboard, but you'll receive clear warnings before hitting your allocation.

Very long conversations (20+ messages) consume significantly more credits per message than short ones. If you're hitting limits faster than expected, consider starting a new conversation for better efficiency. We know this isn't ideal. Our top engineering priority is implementing message compaction (expected late February to early March 2026) to enable much longer conversations without severely impacting your usage limits.
