Version 2.5: Dynamic Framework Knowledge Injection
ISMS Copilot 2.5 introduces intelligent framework detection and dynamic knowledge injection, dramatically reducing hallucination risk and expanding multi-framework support from ISO 27001-only to 9 major compliance frameworks.
Framework Knowledge Engine
What's New:
9 Frameworks Supported: ISO 27001:2022, ISO 42001:2023, ISO 27701:2025, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, NIS 2, DORA
Intelligent Detection: Regex-based framework detection automatically identifies which frameworks you're asking about (not AI-based, ensuring reliable detection)
Dynamic Knowledge Injection: Only relevant framework knowledge is loaded into AI context, improving accuracy while reducing token usage
Eliminates Hallucinations: AI receives actual framework knowledge before answering, preventing fabricated control numbers and requirements
When you ask about ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, or any supported framework, ISMS Copilot now detects the framework mention, retrieves the exact knowledge, and provides the AI with verified context before responding. This means responses are grounded in actual framework knowledge, not probabilistic guessing.
How It Works:
You ask a question mentioning a framework (e.g., \"What is ISO 27001 Annex A.5.9?\")
Framework detection identifies ISO 27001 in your question
Relevant ISO 27001 knowledge is injected into the AI's context
AI answers based on actual framework knowledge, not memory
Technical Architecture:
Replaces previous retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approach
Token-efficient: Only loads relevant frameworks vs. sending all ~10K tokens every request
Extensible design: New frameworks can be added with single object additions
Non-AI detection ensures reliability (regex pattern matching, not probabilistic)
Framework detection happens before the AI processes your question, ensuring 100% reliability. This is different from RAG approaches where retrieval can fail or return irrelevant context.

Rotating loading messages now show what ISMS Copilot is doing: \"Analyzing your question...\" → \"Consulting framework knowledge...\" → \"Preparing response...\"
Clear feedback when framework knowledge is being loaded and processed
Reliability Enhancements
Beyond framework detection, version 2.5 includes foundational improvements:
Reliability fixes: Resolved root causes of interrupted requests for very long documents
Long answer handling: Improved processing of extensive documents and complex queries
Document generation: More reliable policy and procedure generation
Adjusted guardrails: Fixed over-sensitive content filtering that sometimes refused legitimate compliance requests
Try asking framework-specific questions to see the improvement: \"List DORA Article 28 requirements\" or \"What is ISO 27001:2022 control A.5.9?\" — you'll get accurate, grounded answers based on actual framework knowledge.
Product Evolution Timeline
Version 2.5 represents a major architectural milestone:
ISMS Copilot v1 (2024): Basic chatbot with multi-framework knowledge but limited features (no file uploads, document generation, or chat history)
ISMS Copilot 2.0 (October 2025): Full-featured app with file uploads, document generation, workspaces, and chat history, but focused on ISO 27001 only
ISMS Copilot 2.5 (February 2025): Intelligent framework detection + dynamic knowledge injection supporting 9 frameworks with dramatically reduced hallucination risk

Note: ISMS Copilot 2.5 marks the transition from RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) to dynamic framework knowledge injection. If you see documentation mentioning RAG architecture, it refers to the pre-2.5 system. Version 2.5's approach is more reliable and token-efficient.

New Features
Data Retention Warning Dialog
When you reduce your data retention period in Settings, a confirmation dialog now protects you from accidental data loss. If you change from a longer retention period (like "Keep Forever") to a shorter one (like 30 days), you'll see a clear warning that all messages older than the new period will be permanently deleted.
What you'll see:
"Confirm Data Retention Change" modal with clear explanation
"This action cannot be undone" warning
"Cancel" or "Delete Old Messages" buttons for explicit confirmation
Reducing your data retention period permanently deletes older messages. This action cannot be undone. Make sure you've exported any conversations you need before confirming the change.
How to access: Settings → Data Protection → Change retention period to a lower value → Save

Rate Limit Upgrade Notice
Free plan users now see clearer upgrade prompts when reaching the daily message limit (10 messages/day). A purple banner appears on the welcome screen with an "✨ Upgrade to Unlimited" button that takes you directly to subscription options.
What you'll see:
Purple banner on home screen when limit is reached
In-chat error messages: "You've reached your usage limit. Upgrade for unlimited access." or "Rate limit exceeded. Please wait or upgrade."

Plus plan users ($20/month) get unlimited messaging with no daily caps. Visit Subscription Plans and Pricing to compare plans.
Improvements
Enhanced Loading Experience
The app loading screen now shows a centered spinner with "Loading messages..." text overlay instead of plain text. This provides clearer feedback when the app is initializing or loading your chat history.
Outage Banner Redesign
When upstream AI provider issues are detected, you'll now see a persistent orange banner at the top of the screen with the message: "We're currently facing issues with one of our upstream provider due to a recent outage." The banner remains visible until the issue is resolved and cannot be dismissed to ensure you're aware of potential service impacts.
Bug Fixes
Stuck Loading Spinner
Fixed an issue where the message loading spinner could get stuck and never stop. The spinner now reliably stops even if message sending fails. If a response takes longer than 5 minutes, you'll see: "AI response is taking longer than expected. Please check back later or try again." with a warning icon.

Premium Upgrade Dialog for Rate Limits
Users on the free plan now see a clear, user-friendly upgrade prompt when reaching the daily message limit (10 messages/day). The new full-screen dialog explains the benefits of upgrading to Plus ($20/month) for unlimited access and can be dismissed to explore subscription options.

AI Provider Outage Handling
ISMS Copilot now displays a persistent banner when AI provider issues are detected, automatically falling back to Mistral AI to ensure continuity of service. You'll be notified of any outages while your work continues uninterrupted.
Our automatic fallback system ensures you can keep working even during provider outages. No action needed on your part.
Improvements
Extended Chat Timeout
Chat polling timeout has been extended to 10 minutes, significantly reducing instances of stuck or incomplete responses. This improvement provides more reliable chat interactions, especially for complex compliance queries.
Enhanced Help Center Integration
All in-app help links now direct to help.ismscopilot.com for consistent access to documentation, tutorials, and support resources.
Improved Footer Messaging
The footer now includes a link to the user guide with the message "ISMS Copilot is good but you remain the captain" — reinforcing that the tool accelerates your compliance work while you maintain oversight.
Bug Fixes
Chat Loading Spinner
Fixed infinite loading spinner issues that could occur during chat interactions. The interface now correctly indicates when responses are processing or complete.
Message Concatenation Errors
Resolved backend concatenation errors that were previously visible to users. Chat responses now display cleanly without technical error messages.
Workspace Message Display
Fixed messaging display issues in workspace-specific contexts, ensuring consistent chat behavior across all workspaces.

You now have complete control over where your AI conversations are processed and how long AI providers retain your data.
Two Processing Options:
Default Mode (OFF): AI processing in the United States via xAI/OpenAI with 30-day retention
Advanced Data Protection (ON): 100% EU processing via Mistral AI with zero data retention

Mistral AI Model Integration
You can now choose Mistral as an alternative AI model for your compliance queries. This gives you more flexibility in how you interact with the platform and allows you to select the model that best fits your specific use case.
Different AI models may excel at different types of compliance tasks. Experiment with Mistral to see if it better suits your workflow for specific frameworks or document types.
Refer and Earn Program
Introduce ISMS Copilot to other compliance professionals and earn rewards. The new "Refer and Earn" link in your user menu makes it easy to share the platform and track your referrals.
