ISMS Copilot measures chat capacity with session credits on fixed 4-hour UTC windows, plus a monthly upload allowance. The usage meter in the app is the live source of remaining capacity on capped plans. Unlimited does not use a commercial token cap; the usage pane shows Unlimited instead of a credit ratio.

How session limits work

Every capped plan has a credit budget per 4-hour UTC bin. Credits are a display unit over an internal token budget; longer threads and large files use capacity faster because more context is sent with each turn.

The windows are fixed in UTC and reset at 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00 UTC. When you exhaust the window, the product shows a clear limit message with a countdown to the next 4-hour boundary (not a timer that started when you first messaged).

Unlimited skips that commercial compare. There is no silent monthly token ceiling. Availability limits (concurrent generations, Beyond attempts, MCP request rate, workspace files) can still apply. See Subscription plans and pricing.

Free: messages and conversation size

Free has two limits on top of its 10 credits per window:

  • 10 successful messages per 4-hour UTC window. This count resets with the window.
  • 300,000 tokens per conversation. Every message in a thread counts toward it, including the history each turn re-sends. It does not reset with the 4-hour window: once a conversation reaches it, that conversation is closed to new messages. Start a new conversation to continue, or upgrade.

Paid plans do not have the Free message cap or the per-conversation cap.

You do not need to track usage manually. The app notifies you when you approach or hit a commercial limit on a capped plan.

Teams: one pool, hard stop except Unlimited

A team shares one chat, upload, and Agent Tasks pool at the plan's limits. Members do not each get a personal bin.

On Plus, Standard, Pro, and Business, that shared chat pool hard-stops at the plan's token limit for the current 4-hour window. Generation pauses until the window resets, the owner upgrades, or the owner buys Extra usage.

Unlimited is the exception. The shared pool is not capped at a token limit. Extra usage is not available on Unlimited. The member cap stays 50.

What consumes capacity

Conversation length

Long threads cost more per message than short ones: each send re-includes history. Starting a new conversation for a new task is usually cheaper than extending a 30+ message thread.

File uploads

Uploading documents uses capacity beyond a plain text question. Prefer uploading the relevant slice of a large PDF, and start a fresh conversation when beginning a heavy document analysis.

Modes

Think and Beyond use more capacity than Fast for the same user text. Beyond is also limited to 10 attempts per user per UTC day (50 on Unlimited). Free has no Think/Beyond. Essential (grandfathered) has Think but not Beyond / web research by default. Plus and above include Think, Beyond, and web research.

Plan credit ladder (product truth)

PlanCredits / 4h sessionNotes
Free10Also 10 successful messages per 4h window and 300,000 tokens per conversation; no Think / Beyond / web research
Essential25Grandfathered only; Think yes; Beyond / web research not default
Plus50Sold at $20/mo or $200/yr
Standard100Sold at $40/mo or $400/yr
Pro250$100/mo or $1,000/yr
Business500$200/mo or $2,000/yr. Highest capped ladder, not the top chat plan.
UnlimitedNone (unlimited)$1,000/mo or $10,000/yr ($1,000 = €1,000). Self-serve top chat plan. Buy it in the app.

Uploads are not a per-tier ladder on Plus through Business:

Plus, Standard, Pro, Business, Essential500 fair use
UnlimitedUnlimited (upload top-up is hidden)

See Subscription plans and pricing and Uploading documents.

Checking usage

  1. Open Settings (gear).
  2. Open Usage.
  3. On capped plans, read the session progress and remaining credits. On Unlimited, the pane says Unlimited and does not offer Extra usage.

When you hit the limit

Solo accounts on Plus, Standard, Pro, and Business can continue on a faster model with overflow usage (up to 2x, for the rest of the session). Overflow is not offered on Essential, with Advanced Data Protection, in Slack, or on team pools, and it is off on Unlimited.

Otherwise, wait for the next 4-hour UTC reset or upgrade for a higher credit ladder. Team owners on Plus through Business can buy Extra usage. Extra usage is not available on Unlimited. Eligible free accounts can start a 7-day Plus trial. Step-by-step: What to do when you hit your usage limit.
